Mimi Garrard: Creating Videodances

Mimi Garrard began working with dance and video in the late 1960s when she collaborated with James Seawright on three dance videos, two for WGBH and one for CBS. Medium is the Medium, created for WGBH in 1968, was possibly the first “videodance.” Since digital video editing systems became affordable for home use, she has devoted full time to this medium and, since July 2001, has created more than 900 videodances. They have been presented in Europe, Asia, and the United States.
